Gynecology is a division of medicine which consists of the health of the reproductive system in females, which is very delicate and like any other part of the body requires detailed study and knowledge. There exists many diseases that are scanned by a gynecologist and below are factors to consider when selecting a bay area gynecologist.

Do I need to drink a lot of water to make my bladder full before an examination? No, it is better that your bladder is not full as it allows for an easier examination. A full bladder is required if an internal that is vaginal examination is going to be done. In such cases, you need to drink between 1 to 2 liters of water at least 90 minutes before the examination.

What if I have my periods? It does not make much difference to the scan unless your periods are very heavy. Will there be a problem if I get a vaginal scan early in the pregnancy. Will it harm the pregnancy? Carrying out a vaginal scan is a technique in the early pregnancy that sees embryonic structures, on an average about a week earlier than if a scan is carried out abdominally that is a tummy scan. By this we mean it could most likely detect a heartbeat at six weeks of pregnancy. Vaginal scanning is used in all good early pregnancy units. If you are still unsure, please consult with your doctor.

Philosophy: If you are interested in alternative health remedies and natural care whenever possible, you'll want to make sure that your prospective doctor shares your philosophies. An initial consultation would be a great time to discuss this. Gender: Some women prefer a female doctor while others feel more comfortable with a male. Think about your preferences and choose a new gynecologist accordingly. Location: Think about how far you'd be willing to drive for your new physician and narrow down possibilities with a map in hand.

What is the vaginal Probe? The vaginal probe is about the size of a tampon and most women don't find this experience to be uncomfortable. For the first time, you might be a little apprehensive, but that is natural. An advantage of this probe is that the bladder does not have to be full which makes waiting and the examination much more comfortable.

Another common and one of the most effective ways in choosing the best OBGYN is through word of mouth. Referrals from friends, relatives or colleagues usually prove to be very helpful and credible since you are choosing a doctor whom a trusted person has worked with. This option simply means that if your trusted source has had a good experience with the OBGYN, you too can get the same treatment.

Call your insurance company and ask if you need a referral from your primary care physician to see a doctor. If you are not in need of referrals, then ask about the inside and outside network advantages and coverage that is accessible to you.

The above questions basically sum up what is in most ladies minds whenever they are considering seeing a gynecologist. There are more that may not have been covered but knowing the mentioned is a start to being confident as you seek medical services. Keep them in mind
