It is exhilarating when you own shares to a steed. When this happens, then as an owner you are given the right to name the stallion. While it might be easy to name your other pets, such as cats and dogs however you want, when it cones to racing stallions, you cannot just name the animal however you want. There are rules that you must adhere to when coming up with a name. Here is some advice on naming a race horse.

When coming up with name for the stallion, you only have a limited word count. The name of the animal cannot exceed eighteen letters. Spaces and punctuation marks are also counted. You can give the stallion a one word name or you can combine different words to come up with one long name. Also, the name of the animal cannot just be all numbers.

It is not possible to name the pony after another one. If the name is taken, it's gone. Use online search tools to check if the name is available or if it has already been taken. You cannot even give your stallion a name that sounds close to the name of another pony. Even if you spell the name in a different way it will not be accepted. In addition, you cannot give the pony a name belonging to a company or brand name. For example, you cannot name your animal Samsung.

The selected name should not be vulgar or offensive in any way. It should not offend any religious or political group or any kind of group. Therefore, avoid obscene names or names that are suggestive.

You cannot give the animal the name of another person. This is whether you know the person or not. You cannot name them after a celebrity or one of your friends or family members, unless that person has given their written consent agreeing to this.

The name of the steed should not end with the word horse or its synonyms. Therefore, it cannot end with the word stallion, steed, stud, filly, and colt. For example, it is not allowed to name your stallion MeanieFilly. You also can't name the pony after a race or racetrack.

It is compulsory that by the time the pony is two years old that it has a name. When submitting names for the pony, you must submit a couple of names and the Jockey Club will pick one out of all those names. If you are not happy with the name that has been selected, provided that the race hasn't been bred yet or raced, you can pay to have the name changed.

You cannot reuse any names of a stallion unless five years have passed since the animal was last bred or raced. If you are having a hard time coming up with the name for the stallion, you can leave this task to the Jockey Club and they will select a name for the animal. Once the name is selected, it will then be registered and tattooed on the upper lip of the animal. This is done so as to make it easier to keep track of the animal and any available information about it.
