Tips When Purchasing Integrated Diagnostic Systems
By Frank Perry

Diagnosis is used in identifying the character and cause of specific phenomenon with the help of logic, experience and analytics in different disciplines. In medical field, this process determines the disease or condition a person has based on their symptoms and signs. The required information is collected through their physical examination and history.

Doctors use different tools to diagnose patients to find out their conditions though having lots of them and are probably not arranged properly may give them difficulties in choosing the right one. Luckily, you can purchase integrated diagnostic systems where all basic tools are placed together. Some even are modular allowing the removal or addition of those you need or not.

If you plan on buying this equipment, as a physician on your clinic, then the following things should be considered to finalize your decision. Decide if you rather lease it than purchase it which depends on your needs and its cost. Though buying them normally is better specially because you will be using these tools regularly.

Paying in cash seems like a good option though you may need money to be your working capital and for other expenses with your practice. Getting a loan is another option where you can obtain the equipment via financing. Though remember that these loans have an interest rate included that increases the final price of the product.

Healthcare vendors are usually offering warranty and maintenance service contracts which helps in reducing cost of expensive services. Most medical devices have warranties included already so ask them what are the available options. Take your time in reading the contract carefully so you will know the inclusions and they could be used.

Plan on where will the equipment be placed with the larger ones needing a renovation for that area usually for them to properly fit. Although this is a smaller device, you would still need enough wall space to attach them specially when you chose several modules with it. This must be near to where your patient will seat during diagnosis too.

Review their process for delivery which includes an installation service of their product directly into the planned location for it. This includes placing or attaching the device into that wall within your prepared room for the use of these tools. Then inquire on the amount of days it would arrive at the clinic so your schedule could be prepared to receive it with your presence.

Inspect and test the product before any papers are signed for taking ownership of the ordered equipment. New items usually would not malfunction but immediately check them still rather than you discover the defects days after being installed. You could return it if a defect was identified and request for a replacement for it.

With this new equipment, you must review how your new workflow will be, which includes relocating patients to where the tools are installed. This is important specially when you share the clinic with other doctors who might also use the room for diagnosis. Create a schedule that does not conflict with each other.
