Assisted living facilities are ideal for people who need less daily care such as assistance with taking medication and intermittent skilled nursing care. People who need a wheelchair to move, have serious cognitive impairment or show behavioral symptoms like wandering are discouraged from residing in assisted living facilities. The other names used to refer to these facilities include residential care, congregate housing, domiciliary care and boarding home. By residing in assisted living facilities Enumclaw dwellers can have a better quality of life.

Most people live in a boarding home for two to three years. The majority of these people relocate to a nursing home. The residents can also be discharged from boarding homes due to financial problems, to relocate to another boarding facility, for a hospital stay or to return home.

In a residential care home, you can remain independent for as long as you can. The facility will maximize your autonomy, dignity, safety and privacy. The facility will also emphasize the involvement of your family and community. This means that if you become temporarily incapacitated, you can still remain there. Alternatively, you can get the needed outside services and be readmitted to the facility. These facilities also allow people who are about to pass on to continue residing there for as long as possible if they can provide the necessary services.

The residents of congregate care homes have several rights. To begin with, they have the right to be treated with respect and dignity. They also have the right to privacy and the freedom to interact with people outside and inside the facility. The care recipients also have the right to retain and use personal possessions. They also have the right to continue practicing or abstaining from religion. The residents also have the right to receive all evaluations of health-related services and medical needs.

The care recipients reside in semi-private or private apartments. Typically, these apartments have a kitchen, a bedroom that is either furnished or unfurnished and bathroom. The various kinds of apartments available include a one-bedroom private apartment, dormitory-style bedroom apartment, private studio apartment and one-bedroom shared apartment.

Congregate care homes differ in various ways, but they offer similar services. Basically, the staff assists the residents to complete activities like eating, using the toilet, bathing and dressing. The residents of such a facility can also engage in exercise, educational activities and organized recreational activities. Assisted living facilities also provide wellness programs, housekeeping services and 24-hour security. Most of them create agreements with hospice providers to offer hospice services and home health agencies to provide skilled nursing assistance.

As you search for a facility that offers assisted living, it is critical to find out about the regulations, which govern such facilities in the area where your loved one lives. Choose the facility that complies with the relevant regulations. It is also essential to check the competency of the administrator and the staff of a residential care home. Find out if they have adequate education and are experienced in this field.

You should also contemplate on the fees and payment terms of a congregate care home. Many of these facilities include all their services in the primary service costs. Nonetheless, they may offer additional services and charge the residents extra fees for them.
