Osteoarthritis is a very common cause for dogs to have chronic pains and it affects one out of five adults with the number doubling on those over seven years old. This degenerative disease would cause pain, decreased life quality and loss of mobility. Other types could affect them like spinal stenosis, spondylosis and spondylitis.

Signs that they are affected include pain after exercise, slowing down during walks, stiffness when they lie down or get up, or limping. This may be the reason you would need the natural arthritis pain relief for dogs in helping their condition to improve. Do this while still giving them the prescribed medications provided by the veterinarian for your pet.

Make sure to visit first the vet in order for them to be diagnosed to know if their problem is really arthritis and avoid diagnosing them yourself. Because you might provide them with medications which may make their ailment worse rather than improving them. This is what occurs if you are trying to cure their condition without the right diagnosis from professionals.

But be careful when letting them the prescribed medications because they can have negative effects to their body specially their internal organs. That is why natural methods to relieve their pain is advisable as a complementary or alternative method of improving their condition. There are many ways available which you can try for your dog.

Though remember that those effective for a dog may not have similar effects on another one so try various supplements until you find a suitable supplement. Changing their diet also is advisable like including foods that are best for arthritis such as celery, alfalfa, papaya and ginger. Be careful on what you feed them since some ingredients are toxic when eaten too much.

Provide the dog with things which would help them in being more comfortable of doing their everyday routine like eating, sleeping and walking. This includes installing carpet runners at hardwood floors to prevent slipping and having more unwanted stress added to their body. Another is through giving them a supportive and soft bed for them to sleep on comfortably.

Do not stop exercising them daily though make their walks shorter while increasing the frequency so enough time for rest is available. Exercising is still vital for them because without it, they could gain weight that makes carrying their body heavier. And this results in more stress upon the joints specially the areas affected.

Remember to have their nails trimmed because when they are too long, their gait changes usually which could cause arthritis and skeletal changes. Use ramp for them to climb into bed, sofa chairs and cars, reducing strain on hips and knees. If moving around is difficult, then think of helping them with wheelchairs, harness or carts.

Consider physical, massage and laser therapy, supplements or acupuncture in improving their current condition. Use a combination of these things to improve their quality of life despite the arthritis. Check with the vet first before these things are given to ensure safety.
