Great strides have been made in the medical field and, in developed countries, people tend to see a professional when they do not feel well. If they are physically ill, they see a doctor and if they are mentally unwell or unhappy they see a psychologist or a therapist. Many people believe that most ailments, both physical and mental, can be controlled or cured with medication. There are numerous others, however, that firmly believe the only route to health is personal healing.

The philosophy of self curing has nothing to do with home remedies, herbal medicines or over the counter drugs administered at home. Instead, it is a belief that individuals truly have the mind power to cure themselves of any illness, whether it is mental or physical. It is simply a matter of learning how to unleash that power and how to direct it in order to cure oneself.

According to this philosophy every human being is surrounded by a unique energy field. If this energy field is harnessed, it can be used to unleash the power of the mind to cure diseases. However, if this energy field is depleted, blocked or unbalanced, the power of the mind decreases. It is therefore important to make sure that this energy field is healthy and balanced.

Faith is very important in the process. Once the power of the mind has been directed towards a disease it is important to have absolute faith in the process. Some people find it very difficult to maintain their faith. Therapists active in this field say that it is perfectly possible to believe unconditionally. They point to the example set by devout Christians or Muslims, for example.

There is much literature on this subject and the majority of it highlights the fact that it is not possible to truly focus the power of the mind if one is unhappy, unfulfilled and in poor physical condition. A state where the individual is content, with a healthy self image is required. Disciplines such as yoga, reiki and meditation can help in this regard.

Therapists routinely remind their clients that people have both a body and a mind, or sole. Both need to be in balance before the true and full power of the mind can be released. The body needs proper nutrition, quality sleep and regular low impact exercise. Stress also have a very severely negative influence on the power of the mind. Proper and effective self curing therefore requires that both the body and the mind must be nurtured.

There is certainly no shortage of self help material on this subjects. Numerous books and dedicated websites promise to teach people how to fully develop and use the incredible power of the mind. Many beginners struggle with self help material and prefer to receive direction and guidance from an experienced teacher or therapist. This helps them to maintain a routine and to remain disciplined.

The movement towards self curing has frown tremendously during the past few years. More and more people believe that they, and they alone, are in control of their destinies. They believe that they have the power, in their minds, to heal, to energize and to motivate themselves.
