Thrush is caused by the overgrowth of a yeast called Candida Albicans. This particular yeast is present within the body ordinarily, however, when the yeast multiplies too quickly, an imbalance is created which causes the symptoms of thrush. Although the symptoms may vary, many sufferers experience excessive discharge and itching. Nevertheless, essential oils for thrush can help alleviate the symptoms.

In addition to oils, natural yoghurt can also be used and is often combined with various oils before application. Natural yoghurt should be applied to the vagina and is said to be very soothing and also helps to reduce the inflammation. You should ensure, however, that your hands are thoroughly clean before applying the yoghurt externally, in order to avoid the transference of germs.

Rosemary, lavender and tea tree can be used in combination to treat this condition when they are diluted with vinegar. A couple of drops of each oil should be added to a couple of drops of vinegar which should then be mixed with a cup full of distilled water. Using soaked cotton wool, douse the vagina with the mixture three to four times a day, until the symptoms start to diminish.

Two other oils, patchouli and marjoram, may also be used to treat thrush. In approximately half a cup of water, warmed, add two drops of each oil. Using a douche, fill with the diluted mixture and apply to the vagina. Continue to douche using the solution about three times daily.

Bergamot is also believed to be highly effective for treating thrush due to it's anti fungal and antiseptic properties. A couple of drops of this oil should be mixed with distilled water, preferably warm, and put into a douche. The vagina should be swilled in the solution up to four times per day, or until symptoms begin to diminish.

Men can also be affected by thrush and experience similar unpleasant symptoms. In this instance, patchouli oil and tea tree oil can be used to treat the symptoms. Combine five drops of both patchouli and tea tree oil and add to two cups of distilled water, which has been warmed. Wash the penis thoroughly with the solution three to four times daily, or until the symptoms disappear.

Sufferers have been using essential products for this condition for decades and claim that symptoms disappear within days of treatment. Men as well as women use these treatments and the products are readily available for those who wish to try them. There are many natural products which can be used, however, the ones which have been named here tend to be the most popular when treating conditions such as this.
